Welcome

A.G.L.A.E. was created in 1993.

Based in Lille (North of France), the Association hires 13 permanent employees.

514 members (national and international) trust A.G.L.A.E.

Our objective : enable laboratories to check, improve and maintain permanently an optimal level of quality for their analyses of the environment.

COFRAC accreditation

[Quality]

Our audit took place in June – July 2010. The assessors all have confidence in the quality of our work and in our interlaboratory comparisons. This is why they have no objection regarding the upholding of our accreditation and our application for an extension to scope.

New Proficiency Tests in ecotoxicology

[2010 scheme]

Measurement of organic chemical biodegradability and their effects on ecosystems by ecotoxicological tests, becomes more and more important. Eco-labels, the Reach Directive and the Water Framework Directive are leading to an increasing demand of analyses for accredited laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025).

AGLAE has been requested to offer interlaboratory comparisons in this field of activity. In concrete terms, in 2010 a proficiency test is going to be organised, regarding:
- Measurement of easy biodegradability;
- Acute immobilisation test with Daphnia;
- Algal growth inhibition test;
- Acute fish toxicity test;
- Acute toxicity test on the rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus in 48 hours;
- Luminescence inhibition test of Vibrio fischeri - «Microtox test».

A water-soluble organic chemical that is also easily-biodegradable is going to be sent as sample for this test; probably at the end of June. All the measurements will have to be done on this unique sample.

If your laboratory is interested in this new proficiency test, please contact Mrs Naïma CHALLAL:

New Proficiency tests in hydrobiology

[2010 scheme]

The Water Framework Directive (2000/60/CE) aims to achieve the «good ecological status» of all surface waters by 2015 and requires the establishment of monitoring programmes. COFRAC accreditation, programme n°100-3, demonstrates the competence of analytical laboratories for aquatic biological samples.
It’s in this context that AGLAE is going to organise mid-July 2010 a proficiency test including the following parameters:
- Standardized global biological index (“IBGN” according to French standard NF T 90-350 and its application guide);
- Global Biological Index of the monitoring programmes (“IBG” - WFD according to XP T 90-388);
- Diatoma Biological Index (DBI according to NF T 90-354).

If your laboratory is interested in this new proficiency test, please contact Mrs Naïma CHALLAL:

AGLAE and PT-WFD

[Project]

Since April 2009, A.G.L.A.E. has been a member of the network of proficiency testing providers named PT-WFD (Proficiency Testing - Water Framework Directive).
This European network, created in 2008, aims to provide proficiency tests, which meet the specific requirements of the WFD and are run and evaluated in a harmonised and comparable way. To date, the network consists of about twenty members and advisors.

Within the frame of this network, A.G.L.A.E. is going to offer at the end of 2010 one of the distributions of the programme « Other priority substances in natural waters » (programme 20). This will be the proficiency test on choloroalkanes (SCCPs) organised in November.

Besides, the PT « Volatile organohalogens and benzene derivatives in clean waters (clear waters) » (programme 4C2) will also be offered to European laboratories though this network.

The organisation of tests within this network should enable to increase the number of participants.
